Crowd barriers, car park barriers and balustrades

We work closely in accordance with the latest industry standards, providing compliance testing and reporting in line with BS6180:2011 (Barriers in and around Buildings)’ and ‘Sports Ground Safety Guide (Green Guide).

For sports stadium crowd barriers, the standard methodology involves proof load tests by jacking a uniformly distributed line load, while monitoring for displacement.

We evaluate car park barriers and balustrades in theatres and shopping centres and theatres by using hydraulic jacking and displacement monitoring. The load magnitude and load positioning is then determined during the test design process.

Scaffolding systems

We’re able to supply independent verification of scaffolding components and fittings in accordance with the relevant international standards, including BS EN 12811-3:2002, EN 10002-1 and BS EN 74-1:2005.

The testing methodology for this can be applied to a range of temporary work systems and can even confirm the compliance and performance. Our testing shows that the scaffold system, the couples, spigot pins, and base plates comply with the latest relevant standards.

Plus, on site tests of specific elements like crash decks and protection fans can also be undertaken.

Floor slab load tests

As part of our service offering, we can supply a complete range of load testing, including the floor slabs for serviceability loads. These are often required when building use is being changed.

The loads are generally applied statically, and water-filled bags can be used to provide enough weight to mimic crowd loading. By using automated dataloggers, displacement sensors mounted below the slab can monitor any deflections of the slab.
