Ronds’ RH505 sensor has gained ATEX certification for use in hazardous areas.
ATEX – the name commonly given to the two European directives for controlling explosive atmospheres – details how a device is protected from causing an explosion in explosive atmospheres.
Classed for zone 1 and zone 2 hazardous areas, this enables the RH505 sensor to be installed in any harsh environment that requires this level or less.
The sensor monitors vibration and temperature levels on rotating machinery (fans, pumps, compressors, etc.) and transmits the data via a wireless gateway to a dedicated server using Ethernet, Wi-Fi or 3G/4G connection.
The solution is scalable, easy to install and can send an email or text alert when alarm thresholds are triggered.
Antony Barnes, PCMS Eng Group Technical Director, believes the additional safety classification will open up new markets for the wireless monitoring system.
Antony said: “Gaining ATEX certification enables clients in hazardous environments to take full advantage of this robust and cost-effective vibration monitoring solution. It means it is now suitable for applications in industries such as petrochemicals, mining and marine.
“We welcome product enquiries from both existing and new clients across our group of companies. Our sales team is available to demonstrate the system’s capabilities.”
