Vibration Analysis Category 2

COURSE SUMMARY

Vibration Analysis Category 2 is the perfect next step if you have been performing vibration analysis for more than twelve months and already have a good understanding of the fundamentals, and now want to become more confident and accurate in their diagnoses and reporting.

By completing this course you will understand how to set up an analyser for routine data collection, take accurate measurements, be capable of diagnosing a range of fault conditions and be confident in validating their test results per applicable specifications and standards.

This course is based on the ISO 18436-2 certification program for Vibration Analysis Category 2. The course runs over four days with an additional half day for review and an optional BINDT PCN certification exam.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Be able to select the appropriate machinery vibration measurement technique
  • Know how to set up instruments for basic resolution of amplitude, frequency, and time
  • Have the ability to perform basic vibration analysis of machinery and components such as shafts, bearings, gears, fans, pumps, and motors using spectrum analysis
  • Know how to maintain a database of results and trends
  • Know how to perform single-channel impact tests
  • Be able to classify, interpret, and evaluate test results per applicable specifications and standards
  • Have the ability to recommend minor corrective actions, and understand basic single plane field balancing concepts

APPROVED TRAINING ORGANISATION

The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) is an accredited certification body offering personnel certification against criteria set out in international and European standards through the internationally recognised PCN Certification Scheme.

As an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) registered by BINDT, our vibration and lubrication courses are based on a third-party condition monitoring certification scheme which is aligned with ISO 18436 standards.

One of the many benefits of achieving PCN certification is that successful candidates will gain a recognised qualification, which enhances career prospects and provides a certificate of competence.
